About

Hi, I'm Rachel.

A life lived on purpose begins with curiosity, wonder, and alignment.

Welcome to Life on Purpose, a place for curious souls who want to live with greater intention, wonder, and alignment.

This blog grew out of a simple belief: the most meaningful life isn't built all at once. It's shaped in small moments of paying attention, asking better questions, noticing what matters, and choosing to live in alignment with what is discovered.

For as long as I can remember, I've been drawn to reflection. I love exploring ideas, finding patterns, learning from life's twists and turns, and making sense of experiences that shape who we become. But I've also learned that insight alone isn't enough. Growth happens when reflection becomes action, when curiosity becomes courage, and when we begin living what we've discovered to be true.

That's what you'll find here.

Life on Purpose is built around three themes that continue to shape my own journey:

Wander & Wonder

Wandering isn't just about traveling to faraway places—it's about paying attention. Here you'll find stories from the road, reflections inspired by nature, and gentle reminders to slow down and notice the beauty around us. Whether it's a weekend hike, “adult tummy time” on the grass, wandering through the woods, or exploring a new country, I believe wonder is always waiting for us when we choose to look.

Inner Alignment

Living on purpose begins within. This is where I write about personal growth, intentional living, habits, values, mindfulness, self-discovery, and creating a life that feels authentic instead of simply productive. It's less about having all the answers and more about learning to trust yourself enough to ask the right questions.

After Amen

Faith has been one of the most meaningful—and most complicated—parts of my story. After decades within Mormonism and the journey of deconstruction that followed, I've found myself exploring what remains after certainty fades. This space is for honest conversations about faith, spirituality, doubt, healing, and rebuilding a life rooted in authenticity. Whether your journey looks like mine or not, I hope you'll find grace, curiosity, and room to breathe here.

A Little About Me

I've spent much of my life teaching, encouraging, and helping others grow. As the oldest of six children, I was organizing “school or house” before I knew what leadership was. That instinct eventually led me to teach music, spend seven years as an English teacher in both public and private schools, and coach adults from around the world in communication and confidence.

While those experiences have shaped me, this blog isn't about expertise. It's about sharing the lessons I'm still learning and inviting you to explore alongside me.

When I'm not writing, you'll probably find me planning my next adventure, making pottery, meditating, soaking in Broadway musicals, reading something that stretches my thinking, or spending time with my six mostly-grown children. Our family loves good food, board games, music, and our slightly competitive tradition of quarterly PowerPoint presentations.

Why I Write

I don't believe life has to be perfect to be purposeful.

I believe purpose is found in paying attention - in asking honest questions, even the uncomfortable ones. In making aligned choices, even when they're difficult. And in embracing both the wandering and the wondering.

If something you read here helps you feel a little less alone, a little more curious, or a little more grounded in your own journey, then this space has done exactly what I hoped it would.

I'm so glad you're here.

Keep wandering and wondering,

Rachel
